Reflective Narrative Major Learning Outcome 3:
Courses taken:
Spanish395IP: Contemporary Spanish Theater Workshop (UCMADRID)
Spanish395IP:Madrid Culture & Society (UCMADRID)
Spanish395IP: Spanish Cinema (UCMADRID)
ANT4332: Latin America (FIU)
HCOM 328: Latina Life Stories
The courses that I took, helped me develop a better understanding of the world in a different way. Due to the fact that all of these classes all have a sense of feeling that resemble things that I would usually not do or take with my original majors. It was so refreshing to see the capacities that I could reach by learning things like Theater, or even acting as well as Spanish Cinema, in general the things that I learned in the classes taken in both Miami and Madrid as well as the HCOM course here at CSUMB all helped shaped the way that I see a cultural aspect of both the world, but myself as a Latina, and most importantly a chicana scholar.
The concepts I learned through these MLO's demonstrate my capacity to incorporate myself in various cultural environments as a student, it demonstrates my capacity to undertake different forms of classes and have them shape my academic career In the sense of the courses that I took in Spain as well in Miami being a range of Theater mixed with a bit of acting and literature as well as courses of anthropology in latin america, and the Latina Autobiogrfias course that showed me that the contemporary literary work of the chicanas of these generations connected to a lot of the things that I identify with, through the use of a video, I had to show case my personal story and life. All of these helped shape the way that I see a lot of things I see on a cultural understanding of the world, myself my surroundings.
In conclusion I feel that the way that all these courses helped me reach my full capacity of my MLO is because beyond the general idea that the classes had a huge full content of theory the way that these classes were taught was different. The ambient was different the dynamic between the instructor was different and the way that they all taught the class, by incorporating other aspects like acting, sightseeing, presenting, group work, video making, to even analyzing films all made me realized that I learned more in a way of actually being a part of the activity rather than lecture and paper.
